We recently attended the Wings Over Illawarra Air Show (photo of gazebo attached) which was very beneficial for us with excellent merchandise sales, donations and then the ability to provide information to the general public on the history of Australian Military Working Dogs. It was definitely worth our while attending.We were situated beside Defence Force Recruiting and this was extremely helpful to us.
7th June, National Military Working Dog Day
Due to the Department of Defence Canine Operational Service Medal Launch and Presentation Ceremony to be held on the 8th June in Canberra we have decided not to proceed with our 7th June Ceremony which we normally hold at the Military and Service Working Dog Monument at Wacol.The Association will be represented at the Canberra Ceremony. We understand that a number of MWD Units will conduct their own Ceremony on the 7th June.
Vietnam Exhibition at the Army Museum South Queensland, Victoria Barracks, Brisbane.
Our participation in this Exhibition continues and will be in place until the 28th June.A further Exhibition will be held in the Queensland Government Building at 1 William Street during August. We are grateful to the Army Museum South Queensland for the opportunity to have this extra exposure.
Anzac Day 2017.
The Association held a Dusk Service at the Queensland Dogs facility in Brisbane and this was well received by those present.Our thanks to 2CER for providing Soldiers and EDD's for this Ceremony.
RAAF Amberley provided a MWD and handler for an Ipswich High School Anzac Day Service and the feedback from the school has been very complementary.
We also provided artciles & photos for Anzac Day Exhibitions at Our Lady Help of Christians School, Cairns, Deception Bay Catholic Schools Anzac Day Display, St Stephen's Anglican Church, Wattlegrove, WA.
Anthony Hill the author of the best seller "Animal Heroes" was the guest speaker at the Portland (Vic) Anzac Day Service. There is a new edition of Animal Heroes available and is for sale on the merchandise page of our web site.
Karen, Drew & family represented the Association at the Torquay (Vic) Anzac Day Service and laid a wreath on behalf of the ADFTWDA.
